The Canary Islands’ year-round warm temperatures mean there’s never a bad time to cruise these wonderful islands.
The most popular time to visit is between April and October, with July to September bringing the hottest weather, with average high temperatures in the high 20s. But even in the coldest month of January, there are still pleasant max highs of 21°C. The islands are also at their lushest in January and February, after the rains.
Prices tend to be higher in summer, school holidays and Christmastime, so if you’re flexible, it’s a good idea to book around these dates to save money. In particular March-April and October-November are great times to cruise, with pleasantly warm weather and reasonable prices.
You may also want to time your cruise to coincide with one of the Canaries’ many spectacular festivals. The biggest is Santa Cruz Carnival in Tenerife, which takes place in February and/or March. A lavish two-week celebration full of colourful costumes and street party revelling, it’s hugely popular with both locals and tourists from around the globe.
