can arrange your accessible cabin for example we will make sure the
door widths are wide enough for your wheelchair to fit through and
any other special requirements you may need.
Modified Accessible Staterooms
Modified Accessible Staterooms offer features for guests with partial mobility limitations and may not be suitable for guests requiring full time mobility assistance or the full time use of a wheelchair. These staterooms have a step into the bathroom as well as standard interior and exterior door openings, which typically are not wide enough for a wheelchair to maneuver through.
Modified Accessible Staterooms include features such as shower only bathrooms with a low threshold (or lip) into the shower and additional grab bars in the bathroom and shower stall. Please note that Modified Accessible Staterooms in verandah categories do not have a ramp out to and in from the verandah, however a portable ramp may be available with an advanced request through the Access & Compliance Department. [Given size and space constraints, the incline on portable ramps may exceed grades customarily used by land-based facilities.] Modified Accessible Staterooms can be found on S-Class ships only.
Wheelchair Accessible Staterooms
Wheelchair Accessible Staterooms offer features such as wider entry doors, roll-in showers with grab bars, benches and hand-held shower nozzles as well as lowered closet and towel rods.
Wheelchair Accessible Staterooms in verandah categories have a ramp out to and in from the verandah, with the exception of the Prinsendam, however please note that given size and space constraints, the incline on verandah ramps may exceed grades customarily used by land-based facilities. On the Prinsendam, a portable ramp may be available, please request with us and we can arrange this.

someone knocking at the door, the phone ringing, or an alarm.

satellite feeds do not transmit with captioning, so this feature is
available only when the signal the ship receives has
captioning).
• Telephones with amplified sound for staterooms.
• Assistive Listening Systems with portable receivers in the show
lounges to assist guests who are hard of hearing to hear the
shows.
• Written safety information and a copy of the lifeboat drill
safety speech.
• Window-Eyes® computer software in the Explorations Café that
allows guests to navigate the web by listening to the text.
• Downloadable daily activities, news, and menus for guests with
laptops with screen reader programs. These items may also be
downloaded to the Window-Eyes® enabled computer in the Explorations
Café.
• You need to tell us at the time of booking for a large print or
Braille menu. This describes the inspired cuisine offered across a
myriad of venues, from the elegant Dining Room to the casual Lido
Restaurant.

Scooters and other mobility equipment
onboard
Holland America Line strongly recommend that all personal
electric mobility equipment meets the following criteria:
Width: 23" maximum in order to be accommodated in a standard
stateroom, unless collapsible to a width of 23" or less
Weight: 100 lbs. maximum without battery
Batteries: Must be Gel or Dry Cell or AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat)
only
We recognize that for some people, a larger scooter may be essential. If you believe you need a larger scooter, please contact us so that we can discuss your requirements.
Please be aware Scooters and other mobility equipment need to be securely stored and charged in the guest's stateroom; not in hallways or elevator lobbies.
