The Mediterranean cruise season runs from April through November, with high season lasting from May to September. The busiest periods are in July and August, when the kids are off school and the weather is at its warmest. This is a great time to cruise for sun worshippers; however, some could find August’s sizzling weather a bit too hot.
Consequently many opt for a spring or autumn cruise. Conditions are excellent in late spring (May to June), with long days and warm temperatures wonderfully complementing the reduced crowds. In Autumn, it’s good to go in September or October to benefit from continued sunshine and clear, mild seas before winter.
Cheaper prices can be had in March and April, when more southerly locations like Greece, Malta and Sardinia are pleasantly warm during sunny afternoons. Winter cruises offer even lower rates and benefit from far fewer crowds and the added opportunity to experience magical Christmas markets.
